KCBS – Scrap Yard Fire Sends up Thick Smoke

We were at the Menlo Park Firefighter’s Easter Egg Hunt this morning, taking turns sitting inside one of the fire engines when that engine was called away to attend to this job.  A junk yard up in Redwood City is burning, sending nasty smoke (smells like burning tires?) down the Peninsula over Menlo Park and Palo Alto, and the latest news is that if you can smell the smoke, then stay indoors.  It does smell pretty nasty, and you can certainly see it as well.  There is some rain in the area, which would be really welcome right about now.
